Business Intelligence (BI) is the process of interpreting information to gain knowledge resulting in actions and eventually wisdom. DIKW Consulting makes the distinction between data warehousing and business intelligence. Business intelligence starts where data warehousing ends.

DIKW finds business intelligence somehow an obsolete term that does not cover the load completely. It is better to speak of the generic term "data intelligence", or so to speak ...intelligence based on data. It does not matter if the data is structured or unstructered as long as it is data.
